Tom Zeising
PhD Candidate in Economics
Hello and welcome to my website,
My name is Tom Zeising, and I am a PhD candidate in Economics at the Alfred-Weber-Institut for Economics (Heidelberg University).
My research focuses on the triangular interplay between environmental degradation, development, and health. Combining behavioural economic approaches with remotely sensed data, I am interested in eliciting underlying structures in this interplay, helping individuals and policymakers to take more informed action and avoid costly mistakes.

Research Interests
Many countries of the global south have experienced substantial economic growth over the last century. While this growth has spurred development in many areas, increased environmental deterioration has often accompanied it, leading to irreversible destruction of natural resources and impacting the health of individuals on a large scale.
Hence, identifying links between environmental pollution, economic growth, and health is essential for sustainable development in emerging economies. This research focus leads to my strong interest in the following fields:
-
Environmental & Development Economics
-
Behavioural & Experimental Economics
-
Health Economics
